A United Airlines flight was diverted to Memphis due to severe turbulence, resulting in one person being hospitalised. According to officials, the individual was not in a critical condition when transported to a hospital after the flight. The United Airlines flight was en route from Mexico’s Cancun to Chicago but had to make an emergency landing at Memphis International Airport due to the incident. The Chicago-based airline confirmed that the 737-900ER aircraft was carrying 172 passengers and seven crew members. The turbulence occurred while the seat belt sign was still on. According to Memphis Fire Department, the severity of their injuries of six other passengers, who declined treatment and transport, remains unclear. Recently, in another flight turbulence two cabin crew members were injured 20 minutes into an easyJet flight when the plane was hit, forcing it to make an emergency landing in Rome. The crew members on aircraft from Corfu to London were hurt while they were in the middle of serving food to the 181 passengers on board. Prior to this, Singapore Airlines flight from London to Singapore hit severe turbulence on May 21, forcing the Boeing 777-300ER to divert to Bangkok. Flight SQ321, which departed from London’s Heathrow Airport, encountered severe turbulence about 10 hours into its journey over the Irrawaddy Basin in Myanmar.
