Continuous heavy rainfall in Gujarat has led to multiple rain-related incidents and flooding, which have claimed 25 more lives, bringing the total death toll to 35 over the past three days since Monday. Heavy rains continued to batter parts of the state for the fourth consecutive day on Wednesday, leading to the evacuation of approximately 17,800 individuals from flood-affected regions.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel to inquire about the situation. Patel, in a post on X, said that PM Modi had a telephonic conversation with him on Thursday morning during which he sought information about the flood situation and the relief efforts for those affected.

“As Gujarat has been experiencing heavy rain for the past three days, Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji once again called me this morning to gather information about the situation. He inquired about the relief measures being implemented for affected people in various districts and expressed concern over the flooding of the Vishwamitri River in Vadodara. He sought details on the assistance being provided to those impacted,” Patel said on X. 

Gujarat Floods: IAF rescues four from Devbhumi Dwarka

The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Thursday rescued four citizens from Dwarka, Gujarat. The state government, with assistance from an IAF helicopter, conducted rescue operations in the flood-affected Kalyanpur tehsil in Dwarka. Currently six contingents of the Indian Army are conducting rescue operations in the region.

Earlier, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) had rescued 95 people. Inspector Manjit of the NDRF said that Dwarka had experienced heavy rainfall over the past two days causing water to enter homes. He informed that the team has rescued 95 people so far.
