In a significant step towards modernising Mumbai's transportation infrastructure, the first double-decker flyover in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) was inaugurated on Wednesday by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The innovative structure, located in Mira Bhayandar, Thane district, seamlessly integrates a viaduct for Metro Line 9 with a road flyover, spanning one kilometer. This project addresses traffic issues, saves time and fuel, and is a testament to modern technology and efficient planning. It will accelerate the development of MMR and improve overall traffic flow and commuter comfort." Officials anticipate that it will save 8 to 10 minutes of travel time and reduce fuel consumption. The structure includes modern amenities like furniture, signage, and lighting, adhering to Ministry of Road Transport and Highways' regulations. Construction faced challenges, notably relocating the Dahanu-Versova power line, which was elevated to 75 meters.
