RDSO Report Highlights Key Issues The RDSO report highlighted severe challenges faced by train controllers, such as "unattractive" pay, stress due to vacancies, and insufficient facilities. The study noted a current 16% vacancy rate in the Traffic Controllers' Cadre, which could rise to 30% by 2026-27 if unaddressed. Key recommendations for the committee include evaluating performance-based financial incentives, restoring the recruitment of Traffic Apprentices through the Railway Recruitment Board, and addressing other suggestions from the RDSO report. The committee will also examine the impact of classifying Traffic Controllers under the "Intensive" category, which reflects the high stress and workload associated with the role. The committee is tasked with submitting its report within two months, outlining actionable recommendations to improve the working conditions and operational efficiency of train controllers, ultimately aiming to support the Indian Railways’ broader objectives of safety and punctuality.
